Teaching Statistics in Higher Education

lecture3 We offer a range of prospects for studying how to teach statistics at Higher Education (HE) level. These take the form of distance learning courses and materials, and are run by The Higher Education Academy Maths, Stats and OR Network, in association with The Royal Statistical Society Centre for Statistical Education.

The Day Break Programme

meetings2 The successful series of Day Break courses run by the Higher Education Academy Maths, Stats & OR Network will continue into a sixth year. In 2009 we will be offering courses tailored to the interests and needs of participants or specialised groups and these will concentrate the innovative use of statistics software in teaching.

MSOR

The Maths, Stats & OR Network supports lecturers in Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research and promotes, disseminates and develops good practice in learning and teaching across the UK.

Variety in Statistics Assessment (ViSA)

This page will contain information and updates about a new international project that is designed to collect examples of a wide range of different assessment methods from tertiary level statistics teachers worldwide. Following a widely circulated call for contributions at the end of 2007, 40 authors were invited to submit papers. These papers are being refereed and, after any necessary revisions, will be compiled into a book. The editors are pleased to announce that Wiley-Blackwell have agreed to publish the book, which is scheduled to appear early in 2010. Further details will appear here in due course.
