CensusAtSchool is an online survey that started in 2001 in conjunction with the UK population census. Since then, a new phase of questionnaire has been launched each year and we have a database of around a million lines of data from the UK and overseas for use in the classroom.

CensusAtSchool aims to

  • Encourage children to get involved with data handling and learn statistical skills;
  • Provide real data for data handling activities;
  • Increase awareness of what national censuses are and what they are for;
  • Show how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can be used effectively to enhance teaching and learning especially in the area of data handling.

The Royal Statistical Society Centre for Statistical Education  have selected a few activities from the vast resources on the CensusAtSchool website for student associates to use as either stand alone starters, or as part of a whole lesson working with your school mentor or class teacher.
