Ofsted visited 26 schools, sixth form colleges and general further education colleges to determine the main factors leading to high achievement, motivation and participation in 14-19 mathematics, and the factors which act against high achievement.
The findings are intended to contribute to the debate on the future of mathematics education in England, following the publication of the Smith Report Making mathematics count. This report draws principally on the outcomes of these inspections, but also on other relevant Ofsted inspection evidence. Its findings are illustrated by examples of good and of less effective practice and the report can be found by following the link
