RSSCSE Director interview

View on the Royal Statistical Society YouTube channel the interview the Director of the RSSCSE gave to Professor Adrian Bowman at the 175th anniversary conference at Edinburgh in September 2009.

In it he explains the aims and role of the Centre and highlights some of its current activities. These include school-level projects, university-level pedagogic developments and work on train-the-trainers courses in Africa. He also briefly explains RSSCSE strategy and explains a possible new direction for the international CensusAtSchool project.

To mark the occasion of the relocation of the Royal Statistical Society Centre for Statistical Education (RSSCSE) to the University of Plymouth in August, the RSSCSE and the University hosted a series of statistical education workshops during November 2009.

The Trustees of the journal Teaching Statistics are offering a number of bursaries to teachers, schools and/or other educational organisations, for colleagues who wish to:

attend and/or participate in teaching statistics professional development days.

Here you will find our proposals for the extent, level and form of awareness and knowledge of statistics that every citizen should have. Implicit in the proposals is that the material should be taught through a problem solving approach, similar to the paradigm followed by practising statisticians or people carrying out scientific inquiry.
